Precious days to hear evidence from government witnesses on Bushman evictions are once more being wasted in court.
Today, government lawyer Sidney Pilane, has led a party to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in a helicopter to prove that no diamond mining is presently taking place in an area called Gope. Yet diamond mining plays no part in the argument of the applicants, so the trip is completely irrelevant to the case. The trip is a waste of time and money and simply prolongs the limbo the Bushmen find themselves in.
Bushman lawyer, Gordon Bennett, is expected to continue cross-examination of Akolang Tombale, permanent secretary for mining, tomorrow.
