Two hundred Ogiek homeless and hungry

Under government instruction, police have torched Ogiek houses and destroyed crops, instilling widespread terror. A church is the only shelter for the two hundred Ogiek in the Enoosupukia region of Narok district left homeless. They are without food or water since in straying from the church they risk violence at the hands of their evictors. Fear of imminent starvation and disease is very real.
Just four weeks ago the government cancelled all title deeds issued in the Mau forest, home to many Ogiek, with the plan to evict more than 100,000 people living there. Although a Kenyan court has ordered the government to temporarily halt evictions, the orders are clearly being ignored.
The leader of the Ogiek organisation, the Ogiek Welfare Council, has received anonymous death threats, probably from individuals or companies trying to take over Ogiek land.
