Alternative Nobel Bushmen in Berlin

Bushmen Roy Sesana and Jumanda Gakelebone this week completed their tour of Europe with a visit to Berlin, where they met prominent German politicians and journalists, and gave a public lecture at a high-profile museum.
Roy Sesana delivered his lecture to a crowd of hundreds at the Ethnological Museum in the German capital on Sunday evening. He and Gakelebone, both of First People of the Kalahari, have since given interviews to German print and broadcast media as well as seeking support from German politicians and organisations.
Interest in the plight of the Gana and Gwi Bushmen of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is growing in Germany, which is home to many of the tourists who visit Botswana. Survival International opened an office in Berlin this year to mobilise support for tribal peoples in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
